Hatfield memories abound

Remember when the Montgomery County Fair was held on the grounds of the Hatfield Speedway?Remember the Hatfield Speedway?Either way, you’ll learn a lot and quite obviously enjoy a walk down memory lane if you attendthe Hatfield Museum & History Society’s next community program, “This & That — An Eclectic Look At Hatfield History —Part 2,” on Tuesday (March 29, 2011).

The photo featured here today was snapped in 1934 at the Montgomery County Fair when it took up residence at the Hatfield Speedway tract in Hatfield Township.Shown with the goat cart are Lee Weber, Merrill Weber and Richard Weber.

Not quite the kind of amusement ride you find at most fairs today, though.Like the first “This & That” program presented last year, this program will feature a slideshow presentation of photographs, many never before displayed, on a wide variety of subjects, all part of Hatfield’s history.

The program, narrated by Society President Larry Stevens, will be held in the Hatfield Fire Company Banquet Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited and refreshments will be served. For more information, check http://www.hatfieldhistory.org/.
